When
Bill and Cindy Griffiths learned that their eleven-year-old
daughter and Cindy's mom had died in a car accident, they
were catapulted into the deepest anguish they had ever known.
And when they learned the driver was drunk--severly so, at
7:30 in the morning--their pain only intensified. Forgiving
the driver seemed out of the question.
Yet as Bill and Cindy ached to understand their loss and clung
desperately to God's promises of faithfulness, they knew that
harboring bitterness toward the driver would only compound
their grief.
Through
time and prayer, they began to see Verma Harrison as not just
a drunken killer, but a woman God deeply loved and has brought
into their lives for a purpose.

forgave and eventually befriended the very person who had

Griffiths is a building contractor by trade. His wife, Cindy,
is a full-time mom and homeschool educator. The Griffiths have
appeared on Oprah to tell their story, and the segment was one
of the thirteen included in Oprah’s year-end wrap-up of
the shows that affected her most in the past year. Cindy has
also appeared on Christian television and has spoken to scores
of church and women’s groups about her story. The Griffiths
have four children, who range in age from seven to seventeen.
